В поисках Небес !!

Today I am telling you about my heaven!!  Today I am telling you about the Goodness!!  About world!!  ABOUT PAKISTAN

Proud Pakistani: Things I love about Pakistan

MY WORLD:-

Pakistan is the only country in the world I can call home. It might be polluted, corrupt, unsafe and terrorised, but even with all its flaws and all its unmanageability, this is the only place I would ever truly belong, where the colour of my skin does not stand out and where my accent is more then acceptable.

MUCH BAD BUT STILL I LOVE :-

What I love most about Pakistan is, of course, its people. Since we know from experience that we really cannot rely on the government to do its job, we have adapted and learnt to help each other out, sometimes taking up the government's job and sometime going out of our way to do what is really nobody's job. From being there for our friends in their time of need to helping out the October 8th earthquake victims to the best of our efforts, we do what is necessary. When the time comes, we don't wait for the government to take action, and we take things in our own hands to help others.

THERE ARE MANY :-

We are also, to say the least, a stubborn bunch. We are mismanaged, cheated, stolen from, bullied, betrayed and left to our own devices most of the time. Every summer monsoon, we are flooded, drowned, electrocuted and deserted. Yet we refuse to give up our zest for life and persist in retaining our sense of humour. We continue to believe in God with an unwavering faith and trust that no matter what happens, He is going to get us out of whatever mess we have managed to land ourselves in.

ITS PAKISTAN :-

Most outsiders will call us ignorant, after all most of us have only a vague idea what a stock market is and no notion whatsoever what a stable economy is. But really, we just choose to remain blissful. What good would it do for us to learn about the stock market when we truly believe that some outer worldly force, over which we have absolutely no control, manages everything? Believe me that is how we account for every adversity, from crashed economy to bad grades in school.

THE PART OF MY SOUL :-

And who says people don't have freedom in Pakistan? In which developed country can one have weddings, funeral processions, religious gatherings and what not on thoroughfares, streets or any open space for that matter? Our roads double as marriage halls and that too at no extra cost whatsoever. Nobody ever thinks of asking the authorities for a permit, one of the logic being that if they don't care enough about the roads to repair them, then they really have no business telling us what we can and cannot do on our roads.

Moreover, only in Pakistan, traffic lights are regarded as mere suggestions and not as direct orders. So go ahead and break a signal or two if you are in a hurry. Everybody else, including the traffic officer on duty, would look the other way, particularly if you have a green number plate.

Another little known fact about Pakistan it really is the best place to shop. Nowhere else in the world will you find such a wide room available for bargaining and such overwhelming variety of fabrics. Really, from flowing georgettes, to the softest of silk, to the coolest of lawns, there is something for everyone. And since a lot of goods for sale are smuggled from our neighbouring countries, nobody bothers with sales tax or custom tax. Not to mention that we have a cheaper Chinese version of every piece of electronic equipment ever made. For every possible product, there is a much more affordable counterfeit present. As I mentioned before, there is something for everyone.

Finally, I saved the best for last. Pakistanis are truly the most hospitable people in the world. To our guests, we open our doors and our hearts whether we are filthy rich, living in high-rise buildings or dirt poor languishing in one of the many kutchi abadis (slums) of the country. Our motto in such situations is, “What is yours is yours, but what is mine is also yours”.

So here is to all my fellow Pakistanis — I love you                                   the way you are. Pakistan zindabad!
